From our initial consultation to gauge physical abilities and limitations through to multiple sessions in the gym itself to develop routines, Mara’s been a tremendous and friendly guide into the strange new world of cross trainers, pulldowns, leg extensions and loads of other previously weird machines. Another important skill (and an often underrated one) Mara possesses is understanding how moving into such a public environment as a gym could negatively impact someone’s mental health. In terms of holding anxiety and stress at bay in the early days, her presence was a mental health safety blanket that I can’t praise enough.

My main goal was to gain confidence in the gym and not necessarily muscle but with the help of Mara I was able to gain both! During my in person sessions I was able to improve my technique and focus on how to use the movements for best muscle impact. I could then use that in my own time when working out. Whilst logging my work outs in the app, I got feedback and motivation online on my progress which was so helpful! I struggled with motivation before I started my sessions with Mara and now I see every workout as an enjoyable challenge. Overall I have gained confidence in the gym, confidence in myself and much more muscle strength than I expected!
